Welcome Spectators to the 5th Annual Markstay-Warren Challenge the Champ Sled Dog Race We are honoured and privileged to have Lou Serre; a World Champion Sled Dog Racer in our municipality. Without him, this event would not be taking place. With his expertise and in-depth knowledge of sled dog racing, we have created a course that is excellent for the racers and ideal for the spectators. The start/finish lines will be located at the arena in the village of Warren. The course is located in farmers' fields with plenty of locations that spectators could go and watch. Races will be on-going throughout Saturday and Sunday. The UNLIMITED class is amazing to watch! You can expect to see 12-16 dogs per sled. With mushers expected to come from across Ontario, Quebec, United States and possibly Europe we are sure it will be better than last year's event. If you get hungry, there is breakfast, lunch and dinner served in the hall at the arena. All proceeds go to the Markstay-Warren Sled Dog Committee and the Warren Agricultural Society. Along with our local restaurants, there will be an on-site winter chipstand close to the races. For your family there will be a bonfire to keep warm, an opportunity to bring your child on a sled dog ride and/or a kid and mutt race. The Markstay-Warren Sled Dog Committee and the Warren Agricultural Society would like to extend a special thanks to our sponsors and the property owners in the area allowing us to utilize their fields and the fairgrounds for this event. Without their enthusiasm, this event would not be possible. |
